    Find Me On Facebook

VIDEO: Dance class with YouTube’s Matt Steffanina & Dana Alexa

I am what you call a “second row dancer” and not a “front-and-center” type. I discovered dancing probably three years ago after taking classes at my gym, and have since tried to challenge myself by learning new routines and choreography every week. I found that dance is not only a good workout and easy way to get my cardio in without runningĀ (because running… gross) but is also a good way for me to embrace the idea of “performance.”

Despite beingĀ in front of the camera as part of my career, I grew up with a decent amount of stage fright. I stopped playing piano competitively because of it; the pressure of having to perform and be judged in front of not only judges but parents and friends (and frenemies) was too much for me. So, I stopped. It wasn’t until later, when I started being on-air actually, that I embraced the idea of being in front of the camera and performing — that it could be a fun process if only I allowed it to be.

Which is just a long intro to explain why doing this shoot, with YouTube choreographers Matt Steffanina and Dana Alexa, was such a treat. And yes, I’m not kidding about crying about the Asian kid in front.
